Yesterday on a Zoom meeting with Australia I was surprised how difficult talking about my own grief still is – still a giant of a sort. The horror of another shooting of children – this time in Texas – is another giant thing tearing me apart. As is the pulverising of Ukraine. As is the destruction by torrential rains of homes and hearts … and on and on and on. Giant horror everywhere – then I remember this visit to the Elephant sanctuary in Plett when I was blessed to walk with a giant, not hand in hand but hand in trunk! I love it that I do it all the time – walk with a giant – the giant of giants. Then, like Shirley, I can say, “I am at peace and I am whole and it is well with my soul.”
