I like to stare, don’t you? At half past six this morning, coffee in hand, I was staring at the moon as it headed west. Later, we went for a walk, and I was staring at the reflections in the canal. And at a cormorant gulping down a rather large fish. Someone wrote, “What is this world so full of care we have no time to stand and stare?” It was God who gave us the gift of staring. For example, we stare the fish in our video and calm descends, and our souls fall still. We know healing and peace, and Christ soothes our hearts. Then, Creation’s special task is to get us to stare? This is another loving way in which Jesus addresses disquiet in us His very dear children?
