When I took this photo of our baby girl in 1975 and then added the caption I had no idea of what lay ahead – the happiest of times as she grew into a delightful, bubbly little girl, the sadness of times when troubles seemed to mount up in her life, the most tragic of times when she battled monstrous cancer. But the greatest part of the privilege I had was to watch her move from feeling sad to “I’m so happy, I’m so happy, I’m so happy” at the end of her life, to watch her ditch her belief, “I’m not lovable” for the last months when she marveled, “He loves me, He loves me, He loves me.” Jesus changed it all and so “watching this space” has brought such riches into my life and not just the sadness and grief that came my way with her death in 2014.
