On a sunny day we enjoy walking along the canals. Under a bridge we are stopped in our tracks. The artist Anton Smit confronts us with a mural which to him expresses humankind. Every face is different and unique. Yet they all meld together to form community. And he came to understand that what binds them together is love. Actually as we look around there’s a horrible messiness to community as it stands today but – I begin to think – add “surrender” to Jesus and in every one who does that there is the real thing – functioning in love in one community that is the Kingdom of Jesus. That means having peace, hope and joy.
